Scrip Sunday
(first Sunday of the month)
Our Scrip Sunday program is alive and very robust at St. George's. For those who may not now, Scrip is a gift card to hundreds of various businesses, grocery stores, hardware stores, theaters, restaurants, etc etc. restaurants both local and across the USA!
St George's purchases gift cards as requested by the congregation, Friends of St George's and extended families. Anyone can purchase gift cards. When we submit our order, the Scrip Foundation returns a small percentage of funds back to St. George's, These funds are used throughout the year for various projects that may not be covered by our budget.
If you would like to support our ministries, please reach out to Hope DeLeon (hdeleon55@comcast.net). We order on the Monday after the first Sunday. Our orders arrive in the same week, on Thursday.
What is going on at St. George's?
Sunday Church Services
St George's congregation has returned to the Sanctuary!! Our church service, for now, is only at 10:00am. We observe all the mandated guidelines such as wearing face masks, observing 6' social distancing (unless you are with immediate family members) and Communion is receiving the Bread of Life (wafer) with intinction. (The action of dipping the wafer in the wine at a Eucharist so that a communicant receives both together.)
Fr Jim Ezell is our Celebrant each Sunday and watches over our congregation with gentle loving care!
Food Pantry
Our Food Pantry provides food to anyone in need on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month from 10:30 AM to 12 noon.
St. George’s has been helping Salinas families for years with our emergency food pantry and we continue to do so through the COVID-19 pandemic. Our dedicated volunteers treat everyone with love and respect. Please donate to help keep our food pantry doors open by mailing a check to St George's Episcopal Church, 98 Kip Drive, Salinas, CA 93906. Your donation will purchase food through the Monterey County Food Bank and distributed to our neighborhoods of Salinas.
Community Garden
Garden boxes are open to anyone in the community; church membership is not required. A donation of $25 per box per year is requested to cover the cost of water and expenses. For more information, please call Lynn Fischer at 831-392-7692.
Healing and Prayer Line
Healing Prayer please leave your prayer requests with us by dialing the office phone at 831-449-6709. Our prayer ministers would be happy to pray with you at the Intercessory Prayer meeting held on Tuesdays at 10:00am. Please send an email to office@stgeorgessalinas.net for the toll free number.
